The Allendale Fire Department celebrated its 100th year of volunteer service to the residents with a parade culminating in a grand celebration at the Red Barn at Crestwood Lake. The parade also doubled as the annual North Jersey Firemen's Association parade. The residents came out in droves to applaud their hometown heroes as they marched from Boroline Road, up East Allendale Avenue and through the center of town. A reviewing stand erected on Maple Avenue enabled the various officials to observe and salute the marchers and apparatus. The parade continued up Myrtle Avenue to West Crescent Avenue, turning left to make their way to the Crestwood Lake entrance. All parade attendants and their guests, as well as the residents and such made their way up to the Red Barn, where food, beer, soda and giveaways were awaiting. Commemorative mugs and pint glasses as well as t-shirts were on sale for all. Bouncy rides and a ride-on fire truck were available for the kids to enjoy. The weather was beautiful with mostly sunny skies, a light wind with temperatures in the mid to upper 70's. A big THANK YOU to Wyckoff and Ramsey Fire Departments for providing coverage for us as we enjoyed our moment in the sun.
